It’s no secret that Digium has a tremendous number of dedicated customers and partners who are willing to step up and lend a helping hand. That’s certainly one of the advantages of having a successful, innovative business – you are sometimes in a better position to help others when the opportunity presents itself.

Most recently, one of our partners, Scott Pell from SystemsN and API Digital, was able to assist organizations in North Alabama with their communications networks during an extended power outage – a result of the severe outbreak of tornadoes that hit several states across the southeast U.S. in late April. Among its capabilities, API Digital offers carrier-class remote services, monitoring, colocation, and network services. During this recent disaster, the company was able to use their resources and expertise to assist several local businesses and city municipal authorities, helping to ensure their networks stayed up and running despite the wide-spread power outage.

From The Huntsville Times:

API Digital has data centers in Huntsville, Atlanta and Chicago with up to 10 Gbps of bandwidth available. Its custom-built facility, in the heart of Huntsville since 1999, is fully redundant, and the building’s infrastructure is rated to withstand weather, fire, water and power-generation interruptions, Pell said.  …API helped the city, he said, because “we knew the mayor needed to take charge, and we made sure” he was able to.

Following this and other experiences, Scott has some insightful views to share on the importance of business continuity planning and strategies. Watch for an upcoming featured post from Scott that will discuss this topic in detail. In the interim, we want to pass along a little recognition for a job well done. Thanks Scott and the entire API Digital team for being a great partner in your community!

If you know a Digium Partner that’s made a difference in their community, drop us a line or leave a comment and let us know, so we can share their story, too.
