At Asterisk World in Miami I had the opportunity to speak with Tony Lewis, CEO of Schmooze Com, about the latest happenings with the FreePBX project. The recent release of FreePBX 12 Alpha incorporates the latest functionality exposed in Asterisk 12. Additionally, Tony and I discussed the new High Availability (HA) commercial module now available for the FreePBX distro.
From Schmooze Com:
FreePBX HA is a commercially developed High Availability solution that has reworked the FreePBX platform to integrate DRBD, Cluster Manager and Pacemaker. This enables automatic mirroring and failover between two FreePBX Systems. Your phones and devices are registered to a floating IP address, so the failover between systems will be transparent to them. Your SIP Trunks will register to the active node, and if utilizing an optional PSTN Failover Appliance, your T1 or Analog lines will be directed to the active node as well. Then when the primary PBX is repaired or recovers, you can switch back to the primary node in just seconds.
FreePBX HA Announcement
At Asterisk World, Schmooze Com announced the release of two new FreePBX HA Appliances. These appliances are certified hardware solutions specifically designed to support and run FreePBX. The HA solution allows users and system integrators to easily build high availability PBX solutions. By adding a Digium R-Series appliance to your installation you can build a fully redundant communications system. The R-Series failover appliances are integrated directly within FreePBX HA to automatically handle the physical redirection of PSTN circuits in the event of catastrophic hardware or software failure. Tightly integrated with FreePBX, the R-Series failover appliances can switch over PSTN traffic within seconds of a service interruption.
