Let’s Talk IVRs at ITExpo and Asterisk World 2015

By Allison Smith

ITEXPO East is approaching – and I’m more excited than ever to be asked to present at Asterisk World 2015. No sooner has Astricon wrapped up, and I’ve already shifted my thoughts towards the beautiful beaches, gently swaying palm trees, and the southward migration of the industry leaders in Internet Telephony, for the Miami-based, must-attend conference of the year.

I’m especially excited to launch my new presentation: “The Next Level of IVR.”ALLISON In the 15 or so years that I’ve been voicing IVR prompts exclusively, I’ve had a front-row seat to witness the progression of phone system structure. No longer just a conveyor belt to sort callers; not merely a babysitter; and we’ve definitely stopped thinking of IVR as a burly bouncer, keeping people out of your call queue, and only letting some past the velvet rope. In voicing Asterisk prompts from the very beginning, I’m seeing clients *really think* about their IVR as the all-important first impression to their company; as a way of reinforcing their brand, and even as a vehicle to retain and maintain customer relationships. A far cry from “weeding out” callers or sending them through a seemingly endless maze of commands.

The types of companies who implement Asterisk are limitless – from retail to military; from non-profit to Fortune 500. With that spectrum, comes a more sophisticated approach to viewing IVR prompts. I’m definitely seeing more awareness of the potential of IVR as a brand messenger, and more of a willingness for IVR designers to take their prompts to the “Next Level.”

I invite you to find more info about Asterisk World; and, of course, if you’d like to find out more about my services and hear my demos, visit my site, Allison Smith: The IVR Voice. I look forward to seeing you all in Miami next week!
