It’s a monumental day at Digium – but not for the reason you might expect. Today, we opened our doors to some of our favorite four-legged friends for the Dog Days of Digium. It’s the first of hopefully many more days where some of our employees’ dogs spend the day working alongside us. Digium joined the 20% of companies, nationwide, that allow employees to bring their pets to work. Companies have found that allowing pets increases productivity and morale, while also lowering the stress levels of employees.

An additional reason for allowing dogs at Digium (and a bonus in doing so) involves our selected charity of the year. Each year, Digium employees vote to ‘adopt’ a local or national non-profit organization to support throughout the year. A New Leash on Life – an animal rescue organization that places dogs (and cats) for adoption in “forever homes” was voted as this year’s non-profit. As part of our support for the organization, Digium, throughout the summer, will host adoption days and encourage our neighbors in the Cummings Research Park area to attend.

A New Leash on Life is a non-profit located in Huntsville, AL, supporting the North Alabama homeless pet population. Last year, A New Leash was able to rescue over 1600 animals by finding them permanent homes. Each pet in the program is fully vetted before adoption which includes spay/neuter procedure, microchip insertion, FIV/Felv tested (cats), heart worm tested (dogs), vaccinated, and de-wormed. If the pet is injured, sick, or in need of further vetting, veterinarians provide excellent care for them for whatever their needs are. A New Leash is locally run without support from a larger national chapter. The organization is able to help the homeless pet population through contributions from the community and through A New Leash on Life thrift stores – Market Place and TAILS & reTAILS (an adoption center and thrift store).

We are pleased to be able to support such a great cause for our community. Not to mention, it’s a wonderful added benefit of having our furry family members at the office with us! We look forward to sharing more pictures with you from our Digium Dog Days on our social media pages, using the hashtag #dogdaysofdigium. So be sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
