Digium Announces Industry's First Eight Port PCI Express Telephony Card

New Card Supports Digium's Hardware Echo Cancellation Module to Provide Unrivaled Echo Cancellation for Multi-Port Open Source VoIP Systems

BOSTON (Fall VON and Digium|Asterisk World)— October 29, 2007Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced the AEX800, the industry's first eight port PCI Express-based telephony card. When used with Digium's G.168-compliant hardware echo cancellation solutions, the AEX800 provides unrivaled echo cancellation for multi-port open source VoIP systems.

Digium's high-performance echo cancellation (HPEC) solutions eliminate the need for the tuning and training sometimes required to control echo conditions in Asterisk-based voice systems. The HPEC is "toll-quality," as determined by AT&T's Voice Quality Assessment Labs using a stringent series of subjective and standardized, objective tests. The Digium HPEC outperformed AT&T's benchmark lab echo cancellers in all testing categories.

The new AEX800 eight port PCI Express card features eight two-wire RJ-11 interfaces in a single server slot, eliminating the need for multiple slots, dongles, splitters or any other additional points of possible failure. The AEX800 is configurable in single-port increments between station and trunk interfaces for excellent flexibility. Digium's hardware echo cancellation solution provides 128ms of echo cancellation for each of the eight channels.

"The AEX800 exemplifies Digium's ongoing effort to provide the market with the absolute latest in VoIP innovation," said Mark Spencer, founder and CTO of Digium. "As Asterisk continues to be deployed in businesses around the world, it is essential that its quality and reliability be second to none. Digium's high-performance echo cancellation solutions and PCI Express-based cards once again set the industry standard for performance and price."
