Digium, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, has appointed VCOMM (UK) Limited (“VCOMM”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Coms plc (“Coms” or “the Company”), as UK distributor for Digium’s Switchvox family of IP PBX systems for business. Switchvox’s unique web-aware capabilities allow its integration with web and back office applications, turning the phone system into a powerful unified communications (UC) platform that includes support for fax, chat, and video calling which improve users’ productivity and efficiency.
Digium’s product line includes a wide range of software and hardware to enable resellers, integrators, and customers to design their own custom telephony solutions. The Directors of the Company expect this contract to generate significant revenues and to have a material impact on the results for the current financial year.
Under the terms of the agreement, VCOMM and Coms will immediately commence distributing and selling Digium’s range of products. In addition, it is anticipated that customers will require other components to implement a complete Internet telephony solution and this is also expected to increase the Company’s sales of handsets, SIP trunks and maintenance and support services.
Switchvox is designed for businesses that want a full-featured voice over IP phone system for hundreds of employees per server at a fraction of the cost of traditional PBXs. With Switchvox, Digium offers the power and functionality of Asterisk—the most downloaded open source telephony software in the world—combined with advanced yet easy-to-use administrative features and close integration with web-based applications such Google maps, Salesforce.com, and APIs that enable businesses to tie together their back-office software with the phone system.
