HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-June 23, 2010-Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® Company, today announced the availability of Switchvox Mobile applications for iPhone and BlackBerry. The freely downloadable applications integrate with the company's Switchvox Voice over IP (VoIP) Unified Communications (UC) solution to bring advanced UC functionality to employees even when they are away from the office. For more information, please visit http://www.digium.com/switchvox-mobile.
Switchvox Mobile applications are connected to an employee's phone extension, so when mobile workers make a business call through Switchvox Mobile, the call appears to be from their work phone, rather than their mobile phone, and billing can be handled like any other call they would make from the office. To place a call using the Switchvox Mobile application, mobile workers can select a name from the company directory, dial the employee's extension from the keypad, or easily return calls from the Voicemail and Call Log tools.
Switchvox Mobile applications provide key features, such as the ability to control voicemail greetings, access the full company directory, view missed calls, check voicemail, and easily return calls, all from a smartphone. Users can also set call rules while away from the office, ensuring that no matter where they are, they will receive important calls.
"Today's workplaces are dynamic, with dispersed workforces and employees who are on the move or working in remote locations," said Tristan Barnum, director of Switchvox product marketing. "These new applications make it easy for employees to use their smartphones to stay connected to the office, which results in better customer service, increased productivity, and more flexibility for employees. We know it's important to meet the demands of the mobile workforce, and Switchvox Mobile keeps them connected no matter where they choose to work."
Switchvox is a powerful IP PBX that integrates an easy-to-use web interface with UC features, including fax, chat and video calling. The most recent release of Switchvox enables users to access useful features such as call recording, visual voicemail, a searchable company directory, and call parking lots from either a web interface or desk phone handset. Switchvox Mobile is the next phase of connectivity, and maximizes the value that a company can derive from having a Switchvox phone system.
Availability
Switchvox Mobile for iPhone is free of charge and available now through the iTunes App Store. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
Switchvox Mobile for the BlackBerry is free of charge and available now through BlackBerry App World. It is compatible with the Bold, Curve, Pearl, Storm, and Tour models.
The Switchvox Mobile applications can be used in demo mode, which does not require connectivity to a Switchvox phone system.
