HUNTSVILLE, Ala. and TOKYO — April 9, 2007 — Digium®, Inc., the Asterisk® company, today announced a license agreement with NTT Software Corp., a subsidiary of Japan's largest phone company, to sell products based on Asterisk Business Edition™. The announcement is a landmark in the adoption of open source telephony in Japan.
NTT Software is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp. NTT Software has customized Asterisk for use in its ProgOffice, a PBX for small and medium-sized Japanese businesses. Asterisk Business Edition is the professional version of Asterisk, the industry's first open source PBX. Asterisk Business Edition provides tested and supported reliability of critical functions and features and is tailored for small and medium-sized businesses.
