The Asterisk tool kit comes in two forms:
- Asterisk Open Source Edition
- Asterisk Business Edition
Both versions offer the power and flexibility, so what are the differences?
1. Open Source Asterisk
I'm an open source user/developer. I'm comfortable with Linux. I want the power and flexibility of the raw Asterisk system. I'm cool with contributing my changes to the source code back to the Asterisk project if I choose to distribute anything built on open source Asterisk.
2. Asterisk Business Edition
I'm comfortable with the raw power of Asterisk and with the Linux operating system, but I want the support, software updates, full regression testing and other features of a commercial software package.
